Flagalova released EP La Nuit via Paris’ Abîme on December 14, with an accompanying mix called ‘Mélodies infinies et non finies’ premiering on AQNB today. The French producer, performer and DJ dropped his first EP Tunes For Solitary Spots with Parisian collective High Heal last year, which drew from an ambient live set depicting floral patterns, both visually and sonically.

Meanwhile, La Nuit features three tracks with French titles — ‘Veux-tu (Do you want to)’, ‘Montre moi (Show me)’ and ‘Tout sauf moi (Everything but me)’ with Tallinn’s Eliann — pointing to a vulnerable introspection. The press release calls it an “exalted desire for intimacy”, which is realised in a fusion of dance, RnB and soul reminiscent of the likes of Casey MQ, serpentwithfeet and Dan Bodan.

Flagalova, though, incorporates more elements of rave and breakbeat to accompany his delicate vocal harmonies and synth compositions. ‘Mélodies infinies et non finies’ explores all these in a seamless mix of instrumental-only fragments and sketches of emotional depth.**
