A look into the unreality of our digital present with Most Dismal Swamp’s Swamp Protocol in London

, 17 April 2019

The Swamp Protocol group exhibition, curated by Most Dismal Swamp, was on at London’s arebyte, running March 29 to April 13.

The show presents a new video work by art platform and record label Most Dismal Swamp, along with an accompanying installation environment by contributing artists. A look into the pervasive unreality of our unsettling digital present, the Swamp Protocol film features an organic hyperreal visual and sonic aesthetic with distributed contributions from 18 artists, including Iain Ball, Lara Joy Evans, Samuel Capps, Holly Childs, Lea Collet and Marios Stamatis, core.pan and more.

Participants work across digital media, installation, performance, machine learning, music and poetry between them, with additional contributions by Porpentine Charity Heartscape, MBJ Wetware, Will Kendrick, Rachel McRae, Benoit Ménard, Sarah Montet, Anni Nöps, Eva Papamargariti, Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Viktor Timofeev and Kyle Zeto Thorne. Most Dismal Swamp self-identifies as a platform that draws attention towards today’s technological mediascape as “a mixed-reality paradigm; a pervasive, horizonless swampscape.”**
