GOLIN released ‘Tagawa 3000’ on July 30, with the track premiering on AQNB today. The artist enlisted Turin and Amsterdam-based artist collective MRZB to establish the scenography paired with GOLIN’s haunting J-pop-inspired sound.
Despite its relatively short run time, ‘Tagawa 3000’ opens with a UK garage beat, GOLIN’s heavy and crisp autotune lyrics darting through the track’s break. The upbeat rhythm and ringtone-styled melodies starkly contrast MRZB’s set design in the video and cover art, which features GOLIN against reflections and images of herself. It’s a delicate balance of intimate noir and a post-digital abyss, equally present in both MZRB’s and GOLIN’s contribution to the project.
GOLIN’s ‘Tagawa 3000’ is out now.
