LYLEX 1.0, an exhibition by PHILTH HAUS collective, presented by Feminist Center For Creative Work (FCCW) and curated by Mandy Harris Williams, was on view at Human Resources, Los Angeles, running June 4 to 19, with future phases of the project to take place at NAVEL, LA and FCCW in July and August.

With oyster mushrooms fed blood from an anonymous transgender subject undergoing hormonal and dietary modulation therapies, the organisms will in turn be used to create health food pills and powders, exploring the privileging of certain bodies over others, wealth inequality and new age therapies. As explained in the artist statement: “By introducing the blood of a community into an edible “lifestyle” product, LYLEX 1.0 hopes to confront how globalization has allowed for the mass-distribution of exploitation, at a distance, by certain privileged bodies onto economically disenfranchised ones.”**
