Nihilism & new beginnings in the tragicomic opera & laser light installation work of Matt Copson

, 25 January 2021

Coming of Age, a solo exhibition by Matt Copson, is on at Paris’ High Art, running December 17 to February 13.

With a laser light show opera featuring music by Caroline Polachek, Copson’s tragicomic work follows a newborn conversing with a nihilistic God, lamenting life’s “shitshow”. As Dean Kissick writes in the exhibition text: “If everything is doomed, nothing is doomed. You mustn’t despair excessively. The devil comes to feast on you when you are vulnerable.”**
