DÆMON & Endgame are releasing EP DXE via Mexico City/Montreal’s Infinite Machine on October 30, with preview track ‘530I’ premiering on AQNB today. The latter London-based producer came up with other so-called ‘post-club’ artists such as Kamixlo and Uli K, with whom he co-founded Bala Club back in the 2010s. The former Oakland-based rapper, meanwhile, dropped a debut album ÆOS on Chino Amobi’s Intelligent Models label in 2018.
Together the two artists—with additional vocals from Deka Abdullahi, draw on a heavy bass and metal palette to invoke a brooding and ominous five tracks that surge with monstrous implication. Heavy pitching and combative beats abound on ‘Let Me Breathe’, ‘Queue’ and ‘Eye Teeth’, while cycling through a recognisable dance hall rhythm. The EP’s sound reflects the barbed comic art cover by graphic designer and tattoo artist Francesca Landi, while closing track ‘530l’ turns up the Auto-Tune in its thumping electro-march that’s led by DÆMON’s cold and introspective lyrics.**
