Benelux Energy is releasing EP Patrick Jumpen Touched By An Angel via Quantum Natives on October 22, with the music video for lead single ‘Het Geheim’ premiering via AQNB today. Based on former jumpstyle DJ, Patrick Jumpen, the record is both a product and rejection of the West European genre born from tech-trance, hardstyle and gabber in the late-90s.
Directed by Awe IX, the video features empty black and white silhouettes of bodies shuffling to the euphoric “major-key quantized supersaw” sound, surrounded by a barren post-capitalist wasteland. Benelux Energy’s music is similarly dilapidated, where the key elements of the style founded in Belgium are shattered, emphasised and immersed in a crush of noise and violence.**
