Staying rooted and making sense of pressure with Made in LA 2018

, 24 July 2018

Made in LA 2018 at Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum opened June 3 and will be running until September 2.

Organized by Anne Ellegood and Erin Christovale, the curation responds to recurring themes and the current political climate, where “social, physiological, and psychological pressures put upon” the body is highlighting a desire for not only community but also “a sense of place rooted in the local.”

Now in its fourth year, the Hammer’s biennial exhibition features 32 artists working throughout the greater LA area, including Diedrick Brackens, Neha Choksi, Celeste Dupuy-SpencerNikita Gale, Lauren Halsey, EJ Hill, Candice Lin, Nancy Lupo, MPA and Christina Quarles among others.

Alongside the exhibition is a huge program of events, workshops, tours and talks, with performances by Flora Wiegmann, taisha paggett, Suné Woods, Fred Moten, and James Gordon Williams.**
