Ashley Holmes presented solo exhibition Dot Dot Dit Dit Dot Dot Dash at Sheffield’s Site Gallery‘ from January 31 to February 11, 2017.

As the first artist to participate in Sheffield Platform Residency, the project explored “black British cultural production, unspoken coded languages and the history of black personae in popular culture.” It also brought together DJs, cultural theorists and artists through a series of events to “uncover a set of international common threads that exist in black communities, made visible through the Internet and its powerful ability to find links within the black diaspora.”
The installation consisted of five new video works (see below), which played against the backdrop of a 30-minute soundtrack put together by Permissions.
