Joey Holder and Lisa Ma will be speaking about their Near Now-programmed ‘Internet of Growing Things’ residency at Broadway in Nottingham, on February 5.
Opening the organisation’s monthly talk series, Ma and Holder will introduce their collaborative practice and outline research exploring industrial agriculture, global food systems and the complex network between “animals, vegetables, minerals and other unclassifiable typologies” they’re connected to. With Holder mixing elements of biology, nanotechnology and natural history to explore the abstractions and complexities of consumption and production from the depths of the ocean, and Ma’s focus on combining ethnographic research practices with fringe communities and public perception, the work promises to cross boundaries between politics, science and technology.

It is only through the dedication and generosity of everyone involved that AQNB manages to continue. More than ever we need to build a resilient space for independent media, one that works in collaboration with its artists, administrators, and audiences. Not everyone can afford to give donations we know - but if you can spare $1 a month, you like what AQNB is about and want to secure this space for the future, then please lend a hand and sign up. Thank u so much! <3
