Video: The 140 Project

A few hours to go but Frank Kelly just passed the 2,5k goal yesterday night! For what? Very simple, for funding The 140 project (we’re a backer btw): a film with 140 filmakers from all over the world shooting 140 sec pieces.

“It was inspired by twitter and involved the talents of 140 filmmakers worldwide. I basically gathered them together and through twitter I synchronized them to shoot 140 seconds of footage in 140 different locations worldwide at the same time. The theme was Connection, I asked the filmmakers to capture whatever they felt connected them to their home, and shoot it, while we were all connected via the internet”.

The real objective of the film is to challenge all those critics with the new media & sites such as twitter or facebook.. It was a chance to prove nay-sayers wrong,” explains Kelly. “A chance to show that something good could come from nothing, just an idea, with limited resources. Things like Twitter and Facebook are not just useless distractions, they are a resource for independent filmmakers.” The film had its World Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California (which finished a couple of days ago) and is due for global release in June.

The money Frank has been asking for is basically for supporting & promoting the film… Posters, fliers, postcards, presskits…. and once this project is over Frank is heading for the “The 140 Nation”, where he wants to set up 140 filmmakers in every country to shoot a 140 for that country – 140 USA, 140 Canada, 140 France and so on..
