Trauma Bar und Kino announces Songs for Attunement, featuring durational performances from Colin Self, Iceboy Violet, Steven Warwick, Golin & more, Jul 1—3

15 June 2022

Trauma Bar und Kino presents Songs for Attunement, an “exhibition of live works” featuring durational performances on July 1 and 3.

With performative installations from six artists including Colin Self, Iceboy Violet and Steven Warwick, the project will immerse Trauma Bar und Kino in activations spanning spoken word, movement and electronics. Also featuring Golin, Lil Asaf and Stine Janvin, the events explore the terms ‘attunement’ and ‘enaction’—borrowed from psychology and biology—to dissolve barriers of traditional musical performance. As noted in the press release: “Without beginning or end, and without the separation of “stage”, visitors can engage with the artists (and vice-versa) with no predictable linearity or outcome. The live works function individually, but also as a whole, creating a sonic/performative ecosystem, with the body and the voice both medium and artwork.”

See Trauma Bar und Kino’s website for more information and tickets.**

Lagrima plays with embrace & longing on the heartfelt ballad of ‘Raindrops’

10 June 2022

Lagrima is releasing EP eyes still closed via kit on June 17, with preview track ‘Raindrops’ premiering on AQNB today. The artist’s debut record follows appearances on Ola Radio and JEROME, in addition to a host of live performances mainly across France.

‘Raindrops’ delivers a tender yet short-lived ballad. Arpeggiated synths bubble between the thumping beat, ushering in Lagrima’s autotune to complete the track’s euphoric sound. The lyrics describe a fleeting intimacy, conjuring a parallel between embrace and the rain, a theme that dances throughout the up-tempo composition until the beat falls out. Glowing atmospherics leave a nostalgic feeling at the close.**

Lagrima’s EP eyes still closed is out via kit on June 17.

Set at the world’s largest closed ecological system, built in the late ’80s to investigate off-world living, the exhibition — which also features Xin Liu, Laure Michelon, Sahej Rahal, and Yasaman Sheri — explores notions of the human in our ecological crisis-ridden present, among techno-fix imaginaries and Buckminster Fuller-inspired geodesic domes. As noted in the exhibition text: “What types of languages might emerge from the growing consciousness of a global catastrophe of our own making?”**

The Terra [Alterities] group exhibition, presented by Supercollider and curated by Paige Emery and Laure Michelon, was on at Oracle, Arizona’s Biosphere 2, running May 6 to 8, 2022.

Dj Clope shares the cathartic trance of ‘Ligar’ for Endless Bazaar’s debut compilation, Endless Bazaar Experience Vol. 1

29 April 2022

Endless Bazaar is releasing compilation Endless Bazaar Experience Vol. 1 on May 5, with preview track ‘Dj Clope – Ligar’ premiering on AQNB today. It’s the first release from the bi-monthly club night in Lucerne, featuring artists such as dj lostboi, REA, Elbis Rever, and others in celebration of DIY music culture.

Dj Clope’s ‘Ligar’ starts with lush synthetic soundscapes punctured by a mix of Brazilian baile funk beats and vocals. Arpeggios elevate the track’s pacing before descending into the main break, recalling Elysia Crampton’s ‘DJ E’ edits that blend Latin American rhythms with ethereal ambient samples. Suddenly, the composition releases a cathartic trance, youthful vocals trailing between melodic atmospherics before finally drifting away.**

Endless Bazaar’s compilation Endless Bazaar Experience Vol. 1 is out on May 5.
