Firmament, a solo exhibition by Jean-Baptiste Janisset, was on at Paris’ Galerie Alain Gutharc, running March 11 to April 15.

With ornate lead castings and metal alloy colourations, the work derives from the artist’s explorations across European places of worship, monuments and crypts. Venturing across these culturally loaded sites and collecting plaster moulds, his travels from the south of France to Catalonia via Paris, as Ingrid Luquet-Gad notes in the exhibition text, “was undertaken under the auspices of an energetic quest,” resulting in a cabinet of curiosities style assortment of symbols.**
