After launching full series on-line, channels & films (even if they’re from the 50s & 60s, if you’re lucky you may have late 90s…) Youtube (aka Google) keeps demonstrating the versatility of their video platform & new ways of reaching to a wider audience…

As if all those other on-line video competitors (Dailymotion, Hulu…) didn’t have enough with Youtube’s monopole, world’s favourite on-line video portal just launched today their “Live” platform, unfortunately only 4 companies can use the service for now, and it’s a 2-day test phase… (today & tomo).

Next New Networks, Howcast, Young Hollywood & Rocketboom were the chosen ones but many more should come (those Justin.tv, Ustream or Livestream must be trembling right now…).

The widget below was also rolled out, so any website can insert the program guide anywhere. Oh lord, whoever keeps thinking Google is only about search…. as if they didn’t had enough with their wars trying to dominate the www or with the Telcos trying to change the mobile industry now they seem to be teasing TV networks… ooops!

“this is only an alpha test, and YouTube will be taking the live streaming functionality down after the two-day trial. However, the company has confirmed that it plans to eventually offer live streaming to all of its content partners (it may just take a while to get there).”

The service arrives two years after Youtube’s first live emission and a year after U2’s live concert or even last year’s USA presidential debates. Where from here?
