The Minor Threat, 1983 group exhibition at Los Angeles’ As It Stands opened June 30 and ran to August 5.
Curated by Flynn A. Casey, the show included works by John Knight, Rebecca R. Peel, Oa4s and Andrew Norman Wilson. The installation brought together a number of mediums, including sound, projection, paintings made of charcoal, enamel, latex and polyurethane, wheatpaste, rugs, ceramic piggybanks and balloons, as well as an HD Video.
The press release includes a short essay by Casey called ‘Compromises,’ which looks at the way “imagery is adopted by affinity groups to create a system of identification” and how, in 2017, “solidarity is often bought and sold.”
The closing party on August 4 featured readings by AQNB contributor Kyle Thomas Hinton, Nour Mobarak and Peel.**
