The Pearl Eater, a solo exhibition by Evangeline AdaLioryn, is on at Los Angeles’ Hunter Shaw Fine Art, running September 12 to November 7.
With ceramic sculptures arranged as objects of ritual contemplation, the exhibition evokes themes of transformation, divinity and metamorphosis. As Cyrus Simonoff writes, responding to the show with a text referencing the myth of sirens: “The ocean offered us the possibility of perpetual recreation, so long as we were willing to lay our old vessels to rest.”**
