myxoxym is releasing compilation Plasmodium I on October 30, with preview track ‘Evita Manji & Seba – Am I Real To You?’ premiering today on AQNB. The first record from the Athens-based label features tracks from Palmistry, CORIN, Minais B, and a collaborative work from Oldyungmayn and Van Boom.
The myxoxym compilation series aims at refocusing music communities around pertinent social issues and topics for the sake of coming together and raising awareness, with proceeds from the debut release going towards the Greek conservationist movement, ANIMA. One of the first tracks on the album offers label head Evita Manji and Seba performing an atmospheric ballad, curling through celestial soundscapes and intimate vocals that land as if they were whispered up close. On the label’s direction with future releases, Manji had this to say:
“I launched myxoxym to release my own music and other projects independently because I don’t have faith in the current structure of the music industry. It’s old and doesn’t operate in favor of the artists but to exploit them and use their music as consumable products.”**
Plasmodium I is out via myxoxym on October 30. Catch Evita Manji’s debut live performance at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC) in Athens on October 9.
