estoc & Ana Caprix are self-releasing two-track EP The Lake today, October 1, with both tracks streaming exclusively on AQNB today. The duo connected from their respective bases in Philadelphia and London via a spontaneous online exchange to then collaborate on these contrastive tracks, combining the equally divergent elements of both artist’s earlier output.

Where Ana Caprix has a penchant for deconstructing genre tropes into sometimes brooding but often ethereal synth atmospherics, DJ and producer estoc applies her hardcore leanings to a more ferocious approach to production. The outcome is a collision of sonic elements, where the more visceral moments of arrhythmic beats and distorted kicks are held by a swath of unearthly pads and tones at the foundation of The Lake‘s titular track. On the other end, it’s the sparse and chaotic percussion that leads the swelling ambient behind ‘Auvision’.**
