Art, play & a perpetual seat at the kids’ table in the tongue-in-cheek installations of Ellen Schafer

With slogans written in bubble letters, heart shaped balloons and childlike aesthetics, Schafer presents a sardonic reflection on the ongoing state of play in contemporary art making, and its blurring of leisure and work. As stated in the press release, the artist is “creating an imaginary place for herself in the “art world,” while also maintaining a perpetual spot at the kids’ table.”**
