Maria Minerva (aka Maria Juur) is releasing LP Soft Power via Los Angeles’ 100% Silk on September 18, with preview track ‘Down Low (Motor City You Make Me Wanna)’ premiering on AQNB today. The LA-based Estonian producer came up with the hypnagogic pop scene surrounding the Californian Not Not Fun label in the early 2010s before moving further into a more synth and nu-disco sound.

This record is Juur’s first solo release in six years, having dropped a posthumous album collaboration with friend and producer Cherushii early last year, following her passing in 2016. With the help of co-producer, Adam Gunther, Soft Power runs through a track listing of lucid house and disco numbers recorded over a few years in Hollywood and Calabasas. “Down Low” is a collaboration with Michigan duo Symptoms of Love and it’s the most joyful of the lot. It runs along polyrhythmic percussion and a funky guitar line that draws on the motorised energy of its Detroit city inspiration.**

Maria Minerva’s Soft Power LP is out via Los Angeles’ 100% Silk on September 18, 2020.
