Fruiting Bodies, a solo exhibition by Umico Niwa curated by Ruthie Natanzon, was on at American Institute of Thoughts and Feelings (AITF), Tucson, Arizona, running March 8 to May 8.

Featuring strangely anthropomorphic sculptures made of organic matter in AITF’s subterranean basement space, the show unpicks identity through the uncanny and absurd. As stated in the press release: “Niwa’s sculptures probe the facets from which we fashion our identities and corporeal selves, and by extension, how we as individuals compose a larger network of forms and relations.”**

Umico Niwa’s Fruiting Bodies was on at Tucson’s American Institute of Thoughts and Feelings, running March 8 to May 8, 2020.
