Northern Electronics is releasing compilation Scandinavian Swords IIII: Atlas of Visions on May 29, with preview track ‘Vallmo – Elephant’ premiering today on AQNB. The fourth installment of the Scandinavian Swords series, this album represents the label’s attempt to expand beyond its normally austere dance-oriented catalog. Vallmo—one of the collaborators in the FLORA project with Varg2™—returns to Northern Electronics following her 2019 EP ruin walls.

On “Elephant”, Vallmo repurposes the ambient ethereality of her last release with the label into a fully-fledged pop anthem. Filtered and foreboding MIDI-chords tumble over each other at the beginning of this track. Auto-Tuned toplines, digitally sanitized of human tonality, sound off over pummelling 808 bass lines, evoking the vocal and rhythmic stylings of SHYGIRL’s 2018 EP Cruel Practice. Thunderous trap percussion eclipses ever-culminating synthetic textures before fading into the abyss.**

Northern Electronics’ Scandinavian Swords IIII: Atlas of Visions is out on May 29.
