Inef Coupe is self-releasing single ‘Never For Nothing’ on April 9, with a preview of the title track premiering on AQNB today. This work follows the artist’s 2019 EP HOLISTIC PROCESSING, where their caustic trance experimentations were most recently established. However, the Los Angeles-based artist takes a more contemplative and sensitive approach here.

Inef Coupe re-situates their signature scathing synthesis into a more isolated, yet equally arresting form. ‘Never For Nothing’ jumps into a series of granulated synth melodies. An accented Rhodes piano underscores frayed bursts of highly-processed trance electronics, evoking Daniel Lopatin’s (aka Oneohtrix Point Never) title track score of 2019 movie Uncut Gems. The electroacoustics fade away almost immediately after arrival. The artist transforms this brevity into an idyllic space for momentary catharsis.**
