J. Carter is releasing remix EP ‘Their Arms Surround Me Like Chains Made of Velvet’ via VAKNAR on March 13, with preview track ‘Dis Fig Terminal D Remix’ premiering on AQNB today. The Brooklyn-based producer dropped their album under the same title in April last year, where the drone ambience was first staged.

PTP-affiliate Dis Fig pays homage to the original work in offering slight alterations and vocal accompaniment. The artist’s cathartic lyricism compliments mournful piano melodies that slowly evolve into hardened drone atmospheres. Eventually, the howling top line fades into pulsating organ chords reminiscent of Kali Malone’s 2019 album The Sacrificial Code. Through partitioning Carter’s plaintive ambience, Dis Fig contemplates a longing for someone far away.**

J. Carter ‘Their Arms Surround Me Like Chains Made of Velvet (Angelo Harmsworth’s and Dis Fig’s Reworks)’ is out on VAKNAR March 13, 2020.
