Clementine Edwards‘ Sweetheart solo exhibition was on at Rotterdam’s Roodkapje, running October 4 to 20.
Featuring playful sculptural works made from plastics and post-consumer waste, the show points to our entanglement with these undesirable pollutants. It both raises consciousness of ecological catastrophe and offers kinship with plastics as a more optimistic mode of anthropocene world-making.
As stated in the exhibition text: “The possibility of something better can no longer be traded in for the pretty pollutedness of the present day. Instead of looking to a future that cannot come, Sweetheart is a joie de vivre romp through the unfolding now – defined as it is by an exhaustion of bodies having sweet moments beneath polarfleece blankets.”**
