The No~one Is an Island album compilation was released via Prague’s BCAA system on October 31, with an accompanying short film of the same name premiering on AQNB today. The obscure interdisciplinary collective of artists, musicians and producers operates as an AV studio, streaming DJs via constructed virtual and visual environments.
The record features 19 tracks, including spoken word interludes implying a narrative of destruction and regeneration within an allegorical fantasy drawn from a special deck of cards. Trauma, eva01 and Wim Dehaen contribute equal parts ambient and dissonant post-noise numbers to the compilation, while bilej kluk‘s ‘Krypta noci’ resembles the mumbled cloud rap of the Sad Boys or Drain Gang. The rattling and ringing synths and percussion of Ninja Priest‘s instrumental ‘Semínko krajiny’ is a standout. The “No~one Is an Island” video takes fragments from the audio to weave together an entangled, cross-platform tale that includes elements of an exhibition at Brno’s Galerie Art. In this post-apocalyptic landscape, organic and synthetic creatures have merged, echoing the climate fears and consumer anxieties of the hyper-connected Doom Generation.**
