Rui Ho is releasing EP In Pursuit of the Sun 逐日 on London’s Objects Limited on August 16, with preview track ‘Wings of Light’ premiering on AQNB today. The Berlin-based producer and Berlin Community Radio incubator artist alumni released another EP on the Lara Rix-Martin-run label last year, as well as a couple on Shanghai’s Genome 6.66 Mbp previously.

The record—which also features remixes by HDMIRROR, Louis Me and Bela—is inspired by the Chinese folklore of a giant called Kua Fu, who chases the sun from East to West before draining two rivers and dying of dehydration. This focus on deadly highs comes through in the upbeat and melodic urgency of tracks like ‘Acceleration’, ‘The Heat’ and ‘Ardour’ that are influenced by equally intense and ecstatic genres like trance, hardcore and jungle. Opener ‘Wings of Light’ is one of the most hopeful of the three, with its lyrical flutes and tuneful presets that run on a feverish yet hopeful pace.**
