Sounding ceramics & domestic ritual with the heavenly vases of Тальник’s Райские вазы in Moscow

, 10 April 2019

Тальник (Talnik)’s Райские вазы (Rayskie Vazy) project launched with an event in Moscow on January 26 to 27.

Ceramic vase sculptures were installed in the duo’s Moscow apartment and activated through two days of live musical performances “voicing the vase world” for guests. Sounds of tactile electronics and lonely outsider orchestral arrangements, as well as more upbeat Casiotone demo-esque tracks animate the organic forms. Documentation of the domestic installation and event evokes a strange atmosphere of social seclusion, ritual and of nights spent indoors on bedroom creative practices.

Тальник is the interdisciplinary duo of Sveta from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Sasha from Seversk. They have been working together since 2013, in a practice that dissolves musical and visual arts practices with everyday life, initially with experimental electronic music improvisations through to building a country house, gardening projects, mushroom growing and carpentry.**
