Bergsonist (aka Selwa Abd) is self-releasing EP خ on January 19, with a preview track called ‘Ketones’ premiering on AQNB today. The Morocco-born, Brooklyn-based producer takes her moniker from Gilles Deleuze’s Bergsonism, the theory drawing on its French philosopher namesake‘s idea that science and common sense is merely a limiting practical interpretation of a vast sensory reality.

This record will be Abd’s seventh since 2017, where she applies her typical blend of manipulated and reconfigured audio elements taken from a number of sources to explore this and other intuitive psychoanalytic theories in music.  The track listing on خ includes titles like ‘Privatize Your Profiles’ and ‘Social Anxiety’, which are taken from different periods of time and draw together polyrhythms with electro. Named after the chemical compound, ‘Ketones’ is a thumping EBM number that favours motion, while carrying out heavy beats, clicks and an invigorating hand drum through line.**

Bergsonist’s خ EP is self-released on January 19, 2019.
