Pakui Hardware presented A Return to Sweetness between September 14 and November 3, as the inaugural exhibition for EXILE’s new Vienna space.
Set between the wood-panelled walls of EXILE, Pakui Hardware (the duo of Neringa Černiauskaitė and Ugnius Gelguda) exhibited works of diverse materials such as heat-treated PVC, silicone, glass as well as chia seeds and sea urchin spikes. These chosen mediums, both organic and synthetic, toyed with the visual language of the anthropocene, in which notions of the natural world, human intervention and the technological have become irreversibly intertwined.
Based between Vilnius and Berlin, Pakui Hardware have recently exhibited at Tenderpixel, London; Musée d’Orsay, Paris; 13th Baltic Triennial, Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius; Muzeum Sztuki, Lodz; Bozar, Brussels, Domaine Pommery, Reims, Bunkier Sztuki, Kraków, and MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, Rome. They have upcoming institutional shows at Bielefelder Kunstverein (solo), Bielefeld; Zeppelin Museum, Friedrichshafen, and Museum der bildenden Künste (solo), Leipzig.
