Drumloop (aka Daffy Scanlan) is releasing album Revenge Body on New York’s Sweat Equity with a preview of track ‘1979’ premiering via AQNB today. The New York-based producer dropped a number of noise and power electronics numbers on other labels before reinventing herself as Drumloop after her gear was stolen and she started experimenting with FL Studio.

The outcome is six tracks that are softer. The harsh edges and disharmony is still there but it’s steeped in more glimmering sweeps and pitched vocals that convey the sort of gentle crush of lost love. ‘1979’, meanwhile, is a cover of the song by 90s post-grunge and proto-emo band Smashing Pumpkins. The rhythm guitar is gone while delicate effects expand into an ambient epic that crackles and distorts in layers of heartbreak.**

Daffy Scanlan’s Revenge Body album is out on New York’s Sweat Equity on July 20, 2018.
