Adam Stamp presented solo exhibition Hiccup at Mexico City’s Amor Tlalpan, which opened June 24 and ran to July 9.
The show’s title refers to the spasmodic inhalation, as well the metaphorical malfunction or irregularity that it represents. The press release is written colloquially, comparing the so-called ‘Hiccup Cart’ as a bar cart but “not your everyday bourgeois, domestic variety, rolled out by the most gracious of hosts for an out-of-time special occasion or cocktail hour…”
The sculptural bar cart also acts as a meeting point in the space, alongside two miniature speed humps placed on the wall, with interventions and, “bumps and holes and bubbles and breaks all in and on a grid.”**
