Ryan Oskin presented solo show Five Facets at Brooklyn’s The Java Project on July 16 to August 12, 2016.
The New York-based artist created an installation using photography and sculpture that combined a variety of materials from vinyl, wood, sheetrock to digital c-prints, brick, glass, decals, contact paper and steel. The structures occupied both the indoor and outdoor space of the gallery. Each work inside reacted to the varying surfaces present by adjoining, sealing, puncturing, and assimilating to the existing brick, drywall, glass, and flooring. The exhibition continued outside with a series of partitions that consider these structures as both a retainer and obstruction.
Part of his ongoing body of work Under Construction, Oskin takes imagery from work sites throughout New York City.
He also recently exhibited n e w f l e s h (2016) at the US city’s Rubber Factory.**
