Ivana Basic presents solo exhibition Throat wanders down the blade… at London’s Annka Kultys Gallery, opening September 7 running through October 8.
The New York-based artist’s first solo show in the UK features a new body of sculptural work and an accompanying book with original drawings and writings. aqnb interviewed Belgrade-born Basic in April last year, which you can read here.
For Throat wanders down the blade… the artist “methodically constructs Bridle, a character that embodies the tension of both the fundamental fragility of life as well as the violent force behind its suffocation”. Wax sculptures, glass blown baubles, wall padding, and metal rods form an installation that embodies the fictional character, moving her in and out of the space, leaving evidence of her presence within the objects in the space.
