DIY Space in London will play records, screenings & host performances to commemorate the life of radical Jazz musician, Albert Ayler on July 13.

Two films will be screened on the date which would have been Ayler’s eightieth birthday: Michael Snow‘s 16mm ‘New York Eye and Ear Control’ and Kasper Collin‘s moving documentary portrait ‘My Name is Albert Ayler’.

The former incorporates footage of avant guard Canada in the mid-60s including Snow’s “walking women” sculptures alongside a free score by Ayler, and the latter follows the life of the musician between recording his first album in Sweden to his death eight years later.

See the DIY Space website for further details.**
