Australia’s Slopes contemporary art space is hosting a group exhibition titled Tabularium, running at their Melbourne location from August 21 to September 13.

Named after the official records office of ancient Rome, one of the only known places to concentrate specific information by various creators into a single physical space, the group show features the works of eight international artists and artist-groups exploring the notion of the modern-day, virtual Tabularium.

Curated by Alana Kushnir and featuring the works of Jon Rafman, Eloïse Bonneviot, Ry David Bradley, Rachel de Joode, Katja Novitskova, Tom Penney, Lawrence Lek, and Heman Chong and Anthony Marcellini, the physical exhibition will extend into the first iteration of the Tabularium Archive. It’s an ongoing project by Kushnir that preserves the works of artists, writers and curators – including Cory Arcangel, Arcadia Missa, Olia Lialina, The Composing Rooms, and Holly Childs, among many others – working with an online ethos but unavailable in digital form.
