Another day, another concept. One of those you know will never be manufactured… but will all these new super-flexible amoled screens Sony, Samsung & co keep bringing out and with the flexibility of Android… you never know….

The Flip phone concept comes from the heads of interaction designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen currently studying a MA @ the Kolding school of design (Denmark), and who has some other amazing projects & ideas on his website.

Flip in particular  tries to fight the “flat rectangle” design hegemony by adding 3 screens that can be transformed in different ways depending on what the user wants to do with it.

“Having 3 screens on a phone opens up a number of possibilities in dealing with the content on the device. Because people no longer only use their phone as a communication device. It’s more and more used for the things, we usually use our laptops for, but with the limited screen real estate on phones, there are still boundaries for what you can do. But with the ability to expand your content onto multiple screens or having multiple apps running on separate screens, it’s possible for the user to do a lot more productive, and creative things”.

Diving into some technical aspects Kristian proposes a full physical QWERTY keyboard paired up with a couple of speakers and a camera for video chatting, three Super AMOLED displays with Gorilla Glass, an aluminum body and those fancy LED colored lines probably for notifications and for making the experience….. very personal.

We really like it, and as you can see in the video some aspects of our current daily Android smartphone usage could be simplified…. others become a bit more confusing and to be honest, not that intuitive, but having an extra screen for a better browsing experience is always nice. Amazing Kristian. Now which manufacturer do you see coming up as a phone like this?
