We have a new favorite animation studio and a new fantasy mixing miniatures, 3d & 2d animation for a 13min short that shall be released in a few months. “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore” is a hybrid work by illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg….

Which they say to be inspired in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, “Morris Lessmore” is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor.

“Old fashioned & cutting edge at the same time”, it certainly is and while the guys @ Moonbot Studios have many other projects in the pipe Morris & his books will be the first to go. They had a preview last month @ the Robinson Film Center (Louisiana).

And while it gets to the rest o the world we’ll keep enjoying the teaser & the photos of the making of (on their blog). At the same time from next January and on there will be an installation of Joyce’s Moonbot Studios created for ArtSpace in Shreveport, Louisana.

The exhibition is comprised of the highly technical miniature sets designed and built with incredible craftsmanship by MOONBOT Studios and is organized in a narrative layout so that guests can experience the film as it was made as they walk through it. Enjoy!
