Spotify Chrome extention

Things like this are what makes the browser wars so interesting, which makes you feel Google are really trying their hardest to grab little by little more market share. The Spotify Chrome extension allows users to search and find music in Spotify directly from their browser….

You obviously need to have Spotify installed in your computer (and have access to it) as well as Chrome… how it works? …. Use your mouse to highlight the text with the name of an artist or group in your current web page then click on the extension’s icon to listen to their music on Spotify.

Some people say it’s pointless as the normal procedure (you discover a cool artist on a webpage, then go to Spotify and look up for it) is just as fast… but think about it. With the plug-in you don’t need to leave the browser to verify if your favorite music player has any track or album from your new discovery.

Although what we find quite annoying is that when you click on the spotify plug-in once finished the search, there is a new tab that opens which redirects the artist link so your Spotify program opens….

Firefox also has some kind of equivalent unofficial add-on, but it’s only for searching and obliges you to open the Spotify client in order to complete the task.
