Pictoplasma @ Kino Babylon – Berlin

, 28 March 2010

The Berlin Festival of contemporary character design and art comes to its 4th edition in a couple of weeks! A long weekend which brings together an international scene of artists, directors, designers and agencies, offering a great opportunity for all the visual art lovers to discover the latest works but also the artists behind them.

The Tail Gunner

Whether illustration, animation, graphic design, urban vinyl, street or fine art – the emphasis is not on the limits of style or format, but on the shared dedication to explore character-driven aesthetics. The lively exchange between the various disciplines highlights the importance of characters in contemporary visual culture….

Forums, lectures, presentations, talks from those working in the field – or those who love this artform – where they can discuss and dissect the visual application of character design. Confirmed lecturers will be Peter de Sève (USA), Fluorescent Hill (CA), The Blackheart Gang (ZA), Mymo (DE) and Ville Savimaa (FN) with many more on hand…

this year's mascot is in 3D

Some of the best animated screenings, shorts, music videos, experimental animation…. many of which we’ve already talked & reviewed here @ aqnb 😉 (check out our video category)

you can check a whole list of the screenings for those 2 days on their website (or download the pdf with detailed info). However if you can’t make it, you will be able to find most of those vids on the web (once again, we’ve mentioned most of them here) as the artists are kindly enough to share them on Vimeo or Youtube. Nice screening chaps!
