Ingenious or rather pointless… although we should think that being a Norway product it’s all about design and high-tech materials. In the case of “Swims“, it’s all about keeping your shoes safe & shiny…
Although the upper model in particular is one of their actual “shoe” products “Loafer” which goes for about $150. A lighter, rubbier but not cheaper version of the traditional boat shoe.
Mr Johan R. is the Norwegian man behind the Swims brand & idea. The story is as follows…. “Growing up with four distinct seasons in Norway, I never let go of the black rubber galoshes that my late grandfather passed on to me. In 1999 they accompanied me to a milder, but still rainy Paris. Wearing Chuck Taylor’s Converse and galoshes, I got around the severe rainfall that autumn. Not surprisingly, my footwear became the subject of many jokes around the art school I attended…..I searched for the right product before I finally took matters in my own hands and decided to develop SWIMS”.
Which to a certain extent… they sort of are a “modern galosh” …. a new way of adding a rubber layer to your shoes! Although …. we can’t promise you’ll get wet or muddy if trying to play out with all this snow or while jumping in the puddles. Be safe.
