Our new favorite band comes from London and the South East and have just released another EP this year … “Sweetheart” which just got a video directed by Ben Reed & made entirely out of second hand books….

Wave Pictures are not the latest trendy band out of any scene and produced by a great label (althouth MoshiMoshi records, yep, the ones behind Casiokids, have already released a few of their singles), they’ve been releasing albums & singles for more than 6 years and been playing together sporadically since 1998.

They originally formed in 1998 in their hometown, the tiny rural village of Wymeswold in northern Leicestershire, in Great Britain’s East Midlands. Heavily influenced by both their parents’ classic rock record collections and John Peel’s indie-centric radio show, for the first eight years of their career the band was a part-time affair that stuck strictly to the D.I.Y. circuit until 2006, when with Tattersall, Rozycki, and Helm all out of school, moved to London and signed with the indie label Moshi Moshi Records.

The Wave Pictures have collaborated both live and on record with likeminded artists like Herman Düne, the Mountain Goats, Jeffrey Lewis and Darren Hayman (ex-Hefner),.

Sweetheart EP contains 6 out of the 10 songs released on the European-issue vinyl-only album “Susan Rode the Cyclone” released under acuarela discos and limited to 699 copies.
