diaspora update

news

As promised & as expected our four diaspora chevaliers have started working in the open social network we’ve all backed up and are very eager to see some results. One month gone and Maxwell Salzberg updated us all with their progress 3 days ago…

So basically in June they’ve focused on developing a system for passing different forms of information in between seeds. When you post a status message on your seed, it gets pushed over HTTP in real time to all of your friends (kinda the equivalent to facebook’s feed in real-time).

ok don’t criticize the look & feel of the platform because that’s not planned until next month, however it’s nice to see that the open social netwok has a very familiar (facebook style) UI so new adopters don’t have to learn how to use it again.

Websockets are already in the Diaspora core, and any Diaspora plugins will be able to have rapid two-way functionality, (think chat, games etc)…

Two months to go ans here are the plans so far… keep up the good work guys!
