Weston Currie just shared with us yesterday a trailer of his upcoming film “Congress: A Thousand Years of Death”. It will be shot next fall but a little help shall be needed for financing it. If you like haunted village stories, keep reading….
The film begins in prehistory, ends in the distant future, and finds time in the middle to tell the story of Congress’ founding family, the Turners. Structurally, it is episodic and elliptical; each segment is a fantasia of death and dreams scored by a variety of musicians including: Mt. Eerie, Grouper, Ô PAON, and Memoryhouse.
Congress has been written as a sequential anthology of obituaries; capsule summaries of the people who lived and died in the town. Congress is a haunted town, as it were. Confusion or anxieties about death manifest themselves in the form of horror, grieving is represented in nightmares. The vignettes will be music-driven, dialogue will be minimal.
As in many cases lately he & his crowd are trying to get some funding via Kickstarter and they do need help indeed…. whether you think they deserve a few of your bucks is up to you … we’ll provide with some because we just love all those dark 19th century stories…
