“Lightning project” Jadikan @ Le Cube – Paris

[tweetmeme] Nicolas Guilhem aka JADIKAN is one of those ex-Economists-now-artists (like Oscar Llorens) who after experimenting & discovering several years with with long exposure photographies finished his personal “Lightning project” last year.

Living & working in Paris, Jadikan (Malaysian word meaning create / transform) uses the photography format to catch light performances in dark areas. Via the long exposure time principle, it is possible to “write” and “draw” with light sources during 1, 3, 5 minutes or more. There are no digital manipulations in his photography, only dark environments where apparently empty spaces become alive.

His photographs keep record of all his night escapes and his light brushes… lamps, diodes, torches…  He paints, tags the space, finds a movement and outlines a choreography. He likes to play with time in the wasted lands, squats, manors and natural environments… any empty space where he can recreate his electric & surreal figures.

His project is being exhibited at the Parisian Digital Arts Center “Le Cube” until January 16th (free entrance).
