If you’re part of the Dharma initiative artists collective and your profession is “paper engineer”, then you’re surely chased by quite a few people. For Matthew Shilian it’s increasingly hard to stay below the line, and now that American label (and many other things) Ghostly Int. are selling his works on-line… he’s on an even bigger buzz line for many months to come.
His works are rooted in print media, book arts, and commercial design, though he frequently finds himself collaborating with a cadre of scientists and researchers who are just now recognizing the practical connections between paper folding and folding at microscopic and nanoscopic scales.
For his latest collaboration with GI (label & artist started collaborating last year with The Process Series), they asked director & photographer Jakob Skogheim to create this mini profile-doc about the inspiring figure while he creates some of the works for the Extraction series… he makes it look so easy….
