Ambiguity @ Green Ray, Mar 11

11 March 2016

Valinia Svoronou and Sarai Kirshner are presenting a group performance called Ambiguity at London’s Green Ray on March 11.

The event is part of an ongoing collaborative project by the two London-based artists, begun in 2014 and interrogating categorisation as a source of imposed obsolescence. Aiming to generate ambiguities over certainties, the event follows two that already happened at Slade School of Fine Arts and The Showroom and proposes art as a “dynamic scene”.

This performance will feature short presentations, discussions and performances by artists that include Iain Ball, Susanna Davies-Crook, Frederick Duffield, Alastair Frazer and Cassandre Greenberg, and will also involve 3D avatar representations of them to inhabit a ‘virtual’ or ‘digital’ desert, offering an alternative space in which to exist simultaneously.

Other contributors are Joey Holder, James Lowne, Lito Kattou, Tessa Tapscott, Owen Thackeray, Clifford Sage and Eva Papamargariti.

See the Green Ray website for details.**

Susanna Davies-Crook @ Res., May 29 – Jun 13

29 May 2015

Susanna Davies-Crook‘s newest exhibition, Star Chamber, opens at London’s Res. running May 29 to June 13.

Star Chamber comes as the last of three solo shows produced by #temporarycustodians at Res., where the London-born artist and writer speaks through multiple bodies, both live and recorded, in a system of voices pointing to another, absent one. A series of closed workshops precede and continue during the exhibition, and Davies-Crook’s installation is composed of excerpts of the qualitative data gathered through these workshops.

The preview on May 29 brings a performance at 9:30pm, as well as a live set by Recsund (Clifford Sage) from 10-11:30pm, while the closing event on June 13 brings a live distributed script reading, as well as a response and research exchange between Sally O’Reilly and Davies-Crook.

Apophenia launch @ Regent Trading Estate, Dec 6

5 December 2014

Helen Kaplinsky and Maurice Carlin‘s #temporarycustodians project launches a new ‘co-working archipelago’, Apophenia, with an evening of performances taking place at Salford’s Regent Trading Estate on December 6.

The evening will feature performances by three artists-in-residence, as well as a handful or artists and musicians invited to perform. The ‘co-working archipelago’ to which the artists belong has become like “an ecological growth of creative and industrial islands” housed within a 8,000 square foot warehouse in North-West England.

The participating artists are invited to reflect upon “independence and nomadism resulting from a crisis in resource management” in this vast country estate, and Saturday’s show brings performances by the three artists-in-residence – Josephine Callaghan, Susanna Davies-Crook and Gery Georgieva – as well a live set by Vera Modena and Patchfinder, a performance by New Noveta, a VJ/DJ set by The Mycological Twist, and a dormant storage island by Joey Holder.
