Glen Baxter @ La Châtre – Paris
06/12/2012 @ 8:00 am - 12/01/2013 @ 5:00 pm
freeEnglish cartoonist and intellectual cowboy expert Glen Baxter is again coming to the French capital for a new exhibition @ Martine et Thibault de la Châtre Gallery opening next Thursday…
The master of absurdist strips who’s pretty well known here in France for publishing repeatedly on Le Monde will expose some of his latest works until mid-January so well all get to see his incongruous intellectual statements outside their usual journalistic habitat.
Explorers, students with blazers, tea drinkers, cricket players, cowboy and scouts are some of Glen Baxter’s everyday heroes of Glen Baxter. Characters which seem to have been taken out of the youth tales of the 30s and 40s and who are placd in absurd and extravagant situations always staying impassive.
Cowboys having to face Modern Art or English schoolboys who “transform daily canteen meals into authentic food” are some of the parodies and “favorite themes of Glen Baxter” who uses youth references to create all these twisted strips and waken up our unconscious.
Even if you’re not into absurd cartooning, Glen Baxter’s expo @ La Châtre is probably the perfect way to introduce your kids into the fin arts world, and with Christmas holidays approaching… there’s never been a better timing. More info this way.
