Disposable Film Festival 2012
07/09/2011 - 30/11/2011
For me personally there used to be only one disposable film festival and that is Notodo’s FF which has been running for a decade now (and will be open by the end of the month btw). But it seems there’s another on-line festival across the pond who’s got that name for themselves: Eric Slatkin and Carlton Evans’ DFF.
Now in its 5th edition America’s DFF has gathered a few more sponsors (which translates into more $$$) and an increasing buzz around the filmmaker community. In the end DFF is all about discovering new potential amongst the thousands of content producers and they submission period for the 2012 edition is now open.
Short films made on everyday equipment like cell phones, pocket cameras, and other inexpensive video capture devices. The Disposable Film Festival hosts screenings, competitions, and other events to showcase the best work within the genre. Disposable kicks off in San Francisco before traveling to cities around the world.
Nothing professional here as you can see, but that’s part of this festival’s attractiveness.
Yes, you can expect a few of those too, unfortunately not in cash mode but more like their sponsor’s packages… a copy of Production Premium CS5 from Adobe, messenger bags from Rickshaw Bags, camping gear from Alite Designs, and an overnight stay at the Rex Hotel… and for this year a special $5000 prize if you decide to enter the parallel Health-related competition.
If not the rules remain unchanged… less than 10min film shot with disposable media (… aka low-quality cams, flips, webcams, phones…), and a 1$ symbolic fee shall be paid to submitt your film, as usual, through their vimeo channel. More info and access to the previous 4 editions’ films on their website. You have until Nov 30th so you’ll probably have time to shoot something with your new shiny iPhone 5!
