Encrages @ Galerie Perrotin – Paris

JR needs no presentation, neither does Emmanuel Perrotin “Le malin de l’art” & owner of 3 well-known art galleries that take his name (two in Paris one in Miami). When both combined you can expect a bombastic & highly profitable venture right?

Galerie Perrotin is bringing not one but two solo exhibitions (one in Paris, one in Miami) about the suburbs street artist  starting later this month (19th in Paris, 29th in Miami). And we would try & not miss it if we were you, even if you don’t earn all those £££££££ per month to buy @ Emmanuel’s galleries.

JR, like Invader or Blek le Rat has gone worldwide famous within no time, to the point of winning the 2011 TED prize ($100,000) and even being considered as the 21st century Cartier-Bresson (aha…). “Photograffeur” or simply put… another street artist who’s cleverly managed to make his moral & socially-comitted large-scale works into something highly profitable. Just like a certain Bristol boy you could think… his identity is yet unconfirmed but Emmanuel will make sure his works are bought for many €€€€€€… there wouldn’t be any interest in this exhibition if not right?

But still, you can’t deny JR has  the guts to pretty much each year take his camera and bring some of the funniest and most revealing faces of those humans who do not always live in so-funny circumstances. You may probably remember the well-known the 2007 face2face enormous photos of Israelis and Palestinians all over the Israel West Bank wall, but he’s obviously done much more than that and taken human expressions to even bigger places.

So here’s one of those unique opportunities to have a deeper look at the works of one of the greatest and most ambitious street artists of the century (watch it Banksy….), from late November till late Dec in Miami and from next week till early January in Paris. Your move.
